Thank you so much for this. My son cannot go to sleep and he is right here beside me. I was not sure if he wanted to get a dog because in the past he would say no. He is 6 years old and he can be afraid of most dogs.
I have been thinking that getting a dog for him would be great. As you say sometimes you don ‘t know that you will love something until you do it. He is a only child and I think him having a little companion to grow with would be great. I asked him if he wanted a dog and he said yes a small one. lol.
Do you have any suggestions on what dog would be good for such a child? Thanks
Ceddy
Thank you so much for your post. I am glad that it helped, because it helped me and that is the reason that I shared it.
With regards to your question about a dog for your son. It is a major responsibility and I always ask people to consider adopting. As one who helps with rescue, I can just tell you that they are some of the most loving pets that I have come across.
I have always had dogs in my life and I am a far better person for having them. They bring many health benefits to a family, such as exercise and helping with depression. Also they teach kids about responsibility and the love and loyalty that an dog will bring.
My best suggestion is to take your son to the local shelter and have a look around. Talk to the marvellous staff about your requirements and what would be the best for your son.
Hope this has helped.
